Wellbeing Committee 2025-2026
The Amber Flag Committee is made up of one child from each class from Second to Sixth Class and currently three teachers, Ms. McGahern, Ms. Lee and Ms. Dolan Brady.
On the 10th of October, World Mental Health Day, St. Clare's had a celebration day to mark raising the Amber Flag and to launch our Positivity Pebbles project. The Positivity Pebbles Project won a national award in a mental health awareness competition. In conjunction with our annual Creative Week activities, every child in our school painted a pebble with a wellbeing message or design. Every pebble was designed with careful thought and imagination, with a special meaning. All of the finished products will be placed in our school garden to create a colourful, vibrant, enduring uplifting and positive retreat space for every member of our school community to enjoy.
The Amber Flag was awarded for the ongoing commitment to wellbeing in school. Some examples of wellbeing activities in the school include Self Expression Day and Thriving Thursday. In October some classes designed posters with wellbeing slogans for display in the GP room. Aalia Fadil-Perera from 5th class is a member of the Wellbeing committee. In Aalia's words "Self Expression Day" is a day where everyone wears clothes that expresses who they are, what they like and their culture. It's a day when no one can tell you who you have to be.
The Amber Flag committee will be busy in the months ahead as they organise more wellbeing events. Keep an eye out for whats happening.
