HSCL

At St. Clare’s N.S., our Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Coordinator Niamh Cooney works to strengthen the important partnership between home, school, and community. The HSCL programme is designed to support parents and guardians in their vital role as the primary educators of their children, and to help every child reach their full potential in school.

Our HSCL Coordinator’s role involves:

  • 🌟 Supporting families by maintaining regular contact and offering help or guidance where needed.

  • 🏠 Carrying out home visits to build positive relationships with parents and to offer support in a comfortable, informal setting.

  • Organising events and activities that encourage parents to become more involved in school life.

  • 🤝 Linking families with community services and supports, such as adult education, wellbeing, and local initiatives.

Throughout the school year, a variety of initiatives and programmes are run through the HSCL scheme, including:

  • 👩‍🎓 Parent courses and workshops on topics such as wellbeing, parenting skills, and personal development.

  • 👩‍👧 Parent and child programmes that strengthen learning and connection at home and in school.

  • Coffee mornings and informal meet-ups to build community and friendship among parents.

  • 🎨 Seasonal activities and creative workshops, such as crafts, cooking, and cultural celebrations.

The overall aim of the HSCL programme is to create a warm, welcoming school community where parents feel valued, included, and supported — because when home and school work together, children thrive.
