Club na Gaeilge
Our Club na Gaeilge is made up of enthusiastic pupils from 3rd to 6th Class who share a love of the Irish language and culture. 💚☘️
The club is a welcoming and lively group that provides pupils with fun and creative opportunities to use and enjoy Irish outside the classroom. It focuses especially on developing their Gaeilge Neamhfhoirmiúil (informal Irish) — the everyday language they can use naturally with friends and teachers.
Through games, songs, quizzes, drama, art, and conversation, children get the chance to practise and build confidence in speaking Irish in a relaxed and enjoyable setting. 🎲🎨🎤
Club members also take part in special school events that celebrate Irish culture and traditions, such as the Christmas Carol Service, Seachtain na Gaeilge, Lá Glas, and various school assemblies.
Last year, the group had a wonderful experience on a trip to Croke Park — Bhí lá iontach acu i bPáirc an Chrocaigh an bhliain seo caite! 🏟️🇮🇪 It was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Irish language in such an iconic place.
We were very proud to be awarded our Gaelbhratach in 2024, recognising the hard work and enthusiasm of our pupils and staff in promoting Irish throughout the school. 🎉
The club continues to grow and to find new ways to encourage everyone in St. Clare’s N.S. to use their cúpla focal both in and out of the classroom.
Mar a deirimid i gcónaí – Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste! 💬✨
